The international press for weeks, closely following the uprising exploded in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, which reminds us to im-powerful Western past almost forgotten. Despite being in solidarity with the cause of the revolt, which I hope give rise to a revolution, I can not help but notice a striking appearance, the newspapers continued to reproduce and in England and America has become the subject of debate: the revolution occurred thanks to social networks. I agree that the media play a key role during the organization of any event which gathers more people, especially from places distant from each other, but to admit this, how does someone, that the uprising is taking place thanks to a means and not an end is really absurd. We all know the French Revolution or American or Mexican, which occurred at times when people had to largely illiterate, but revolutions have been made anyway. Why? Because the base of the revolution there is a strong feeling of malaise and poor living conditions of the people, subject to the power that keeps him in a cage, which will then translate into direct action to destroy the crate, to reestablish a new system that meets the needs of the people themselves. At least in theory. Also you have to deal with some statistics: in Egypt, 21.2% of the population accesses the Internet, 34% in Tunisia and Algeria 13%. This shows that the bottom was not as decisive use of social networks to bring out the insurgency. Malcolm Gladwell, in the columns of The New Yorker, "shows also other limitations related to the revolt that uses social networks: 1 - they are all" friends "and not create a hierarchical organization, which has responsibility for some decisions 2 - on the internet no one makes sacrifices necessary 3 - the social network participation increases but decreases the motivation 4 - often those involved in the uprising on the Internet are not in the place where 5 - do not create strategies. A these I would add is total control by the power. Just go to the website of the "Republic" to the foreign section, to see that in Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and China platform Twitter and Facebook are inaccessible and Cuba and Syria work in fits and starts. This means that the uprising is over already? No, because people are hungry for freedom, justice, equality, and also of hope. These are the weapons of the revolution. Meanwhile in China the government is working to ensure, by clicking on a search engine the word "Egypt", the result is "about: blank". I wonder if even in Italy the government is taking steps in this regard. At first glance you think: Berlusconi to express its solidarity with Mubarak "is close to his niece."
